ER: Hitting It
This time, I hit it on the first try. I was sure and steady and my technique was flawless. As the blood whooshed into my syringe and hit the heparin pad, I felt a sense of triumph and a new calm. I know that I am not going to hurt patients doing ABG's any more.
This blog is the combined effort of five medical students tackling the "real ward" for the first time. Our experiences are full of triumphs, frustrations, and everything in between; and by sharing these we hope to provide some insight into one of the most unique educational apprenticeships there is.
Over the course of the next year, we will be rotating through the following:
- Family Medicine - Medicine - Neurology - OB/GYN - Pediatrics - Psychiatry - Surgery
If, after reading a post, you conclude that one (or several) of us has lost his/her sanity, well... it is medical school, after all...
